Resumen

Los textos hagiográficos son uno de los máximos representantes de la literatura en Bizancio. A pesar de que aportan la mayoría de la información acerca de la tradición y del culto a los diferentes santos de la Iglesia, no deben caer en el olvido otras tipologías textuales mediante las cuales no puede sino enriquecerse el estudio sobre la figura de un santo concreto, como es el caso de la himnografía. Así, en este trabajo se presenta un breve análisis comparativo entre el primer himno a san Jorge atribuido al himnógrafo Romano Melodo y sus posibles fuentes literarias, y se pone de manifiesto el procedimiento de acomodación del elemento hagiográfico a la tradición hímnica cristiana primitiva.

Hagiographical texts are one of the most important representatives of Byzantine literature. Even though they provide most of the information about the tradition and worship of several saints of the Church, other textual typologies such as hymnography should not be forgotten, as they can only enrich the study of the figure of a specific saint. In this essay a hymn on Saint George, attributed to the hymnographer Romanos the Melodist, is analysed and compared to its possible literary sources, while revealing the procedure of accommodation for hagiographical elements to the early Christian hymnographic tradition.
