Resumen
A partir de la famosa crónica de C. Buondelmonti (ca. 1417) aumentó el número de viajeros europeos a la isla de Creta. En el presente trabajo estudiamos el testimonio de dos viajeros polacos de distintos periodos. Krzisztof Mikołaj Radziwiłł visitó la isla de Creta durante su peregrinaje a Tierra Santa en las últimas décadas del siglo XVI, cuando la isla pertenecía todavía a la “Serenissima” república. Por su parte, el padre Marcin Czermiński realizó varios viajes, fundamentalmente por razones apostólicas, si bien el viajero polaco más tarde amplió su interés a los campos de la historia, la arqueología y las costumbres tradicionales de la isla durante el comienzo del siglo XX, cuando Creta, liberada del yugo otomano, tenía un estatus independiente de Grecia. La información que proporcionan ambos viajeros es valiosa, cada uno en su época, para enriquecer nuestro conocimiento de la historia de Creta.

Since the famous chronicle of C. Buondelmonti (ca. 1417) the number of European travellers to the island of Crete increased. In this paper we present the testimonies of two Polish travelers from diffrent periods. Krzisztof Mikołaj Radziwiłł visited the island of Crete in the last decades of s. XVI when the island still belonged to the “Serenissima” Republic in his pilgrimage trip to the Holly Land. Meanwhile, Father Marcin Czermiński made various trips, basically by apostolic reasons, but the Polish traveller later extended his interest to the fields of the History, Archaeology and traditional customs of the island during the beginning of the s. XX when Crete, freed from the Ottoman yoke, has an autonomous status for Greece. The information from both Poles is valuable, each in his time, to enrich our knowledge about the history of Crete.
